Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to both pricing and reserving across multiple LoB's
  • Work alongside actuarial and underwriting/product manager in all commercial lines of business
  • Compiles and categorizes data, from internal databases for actuarial reports and models, documenting and verifying the factors used in computations such as those used in evaluating loss and expense reserves, preparing rate filings, schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, benefits and establishing rating and pricing levels.
  • Calculates premiums or reserves for new or existing products, and may perform research, experience studies, and other statistical analyses.
  • Assist in building actuarial templates for pricing models and trend studies.
  • Utilizes actuarial and financial software to develop new ways of looking at available data.
  • Participates in the development of business recommendations and analysis of strategies.
  • Effectively communicate data-driven insights to business partners and management.
  • Perform annual rate adequacy and trend studies to be used in pricing and reserving
  • Large account pricing, working closely with UW to understand recommendations
  • Maintain benchmarks and develop pricing templates for large accounts
  • Benchmark studies for existing business classes

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office, computer programming experience and experience with VBA, SAS, SQL or R is a plus.
  • Innovative thinker and creative problem solver
  • Self-starter and takes initiative
  • Excellent Time Management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills allowing easy communication with departmental management throughout the company.
  • Experience with Arius and Power BI is a plus.

Qualifications, Education and Experience Preferred

  • Actively pursuing FCAS/ACAS with a minimum of 4 exams.
  • 2+ years of property/casualty actuarial experience with multiple lines of insurance business.
  • Must have Rate Filing experience

Compensation & Benefits

 

The applicable base salary for this opportunity is $100,000 - $150,000.  The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.  In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
